ODIS Announces Grant Awarded by the Texas Bar Foundation

"Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation."

Opening Doors Immigration Services, Inc. ("ODIS") is proud to announce that the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded our agency with $15,000 for 2011 to be used to implement Project Hope.

Project Hope is a new ODIS program that will offer free Continuing Legal Education ("CLE") trainings to Denton County Bar Members. Attorneys will learn procedures, laws, regulations, and ethics required to provide immigration legal services to eligible victims of domestic violence. Project Hope's goal is to create a bank of pro-bono attorneys in the Denton area that can provide pro-bono services to eligible victims of domestic violence in need of these services living in the Denton area. ODIS will assist pro-bono attorneys in administering these services and will screen clients for their eligibility prior to assigning cases to attorneys.

Opening Doors Immigration Services, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving Denton County and the surrounding communities with affordable immigration services. Founded in 2003 and incorporated in 2008. ODIS is a Board of Immigration Appeals Recognized Agency (Department of Justice) that has served over 750 clients.
